Good morning. Although I promised I would rarely or never put up multimedia here, I thought this would be appropriate considering last nights results.
Okay, let’s get to it!
Don Surber’s observation: “Let’s see, highest ratings in 3 years. Won the ratings wars on Monday. Despite all the left-wing rubbish about Bristol Palin, ABC scored big time by putting her on Dancing With The Stars.”
Via Instapundit, an interesting piece about campus speech codes vis-a-vis bullying: “In contrast, the bill redefines harassment in a manner that is at odds with the Supreme Court’s exacting definition of student-on-student harassment, which successfully balances the need to respond to extreme behavior with the importance of free speech on campus. In Davis v. Monroe County Board of Education, 526 U.S. 629 (1999), the Court defined student-on-student harassment as conduct that is “so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive, and that so undermines and detracts from the victims’ educational experience, that the victim-students are effectively denied equal access to an institution’s resources and opportunities.” This definition has been relied upon by courts for more than a decade and has been adopted by many institutions across the country, including the entire University of California system.”
Heh – after so many years of anti-Bush car bumpers, this is nice:
Oh, and some funny NASA commentary here. I like the headline, personally…
Over at AmSpec, more Palin fun – a snippet:
Let’s face it. Most Americans have never been to Alaska and this show is probably the closest a lot of us will get. Of course, one could make the case that if one wanted to see the wonders of Alaska on television one could tune into a PBS program like Nature. But it is one thing to see bears fighting in a river; it’s another to see it as it is being observed by the Palin family … Labash points out that critics of the show on Twitter take 9-year-old Piper Palin to task for making “racist anti-bear calls.” (Frankly, I didn’t know growling at bears constituted an act of racism. Do they think Piper would have spared polar bears her heckling?) But what Labash doesn’t point out is that the Mama Grizzly herself took young Piper to task for scaring the bears. For generations children have found ways to scare animals, leaving it to their parents to tell them it is not a nice thing to do.
Did I tell you about the time that I FU*#*%G HATE BIG LABOR?
IMAO is funny as hell – I won’t tell you the question, but here is one of the answers: MST3K Special: Hardball with Chris Mathews . FWIW, MST3K is one of my 10 favorite TV shows of all time, a list that also includes Veronica Mars, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dungeons and Dragons [80s incarnation], and House. Yes, I know that’s not 10 shows, but I didn’t say I was going to list all of them…
Alright, that is all for now. I hope that your momma’s alright and your daddy’s alright and your kid’s are alright and … you get it. Travel safe, and if they try to touch your junk, do us all a favor and get sexually aroused in public. It’s like the one time it’s totally okay.
